How BPC 157 is supplied

BPC 157 is a short synthetic peptide supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial. Because the fill mass is small relative to the vial volume, the cake can appear as a thin film at the base rather than a visible plug — this is normal and not an indication of an underfilled vial.

Reconstitution technique

  • Allow the sealed vial to reach room temperature before opening or introducing solvent — cold glass draws condensation into the vial
  • Wipe the stopper with an alcohol prep and let it dry
  • Introduce solvent slowly down the inner wall of the vial, not directly onto the cake
  • Let the peptide dissolve on its own; swirl gently if needed
  • Never vortex or shake vigorously — mechanical shear degrades peptides
  • Inspect for full dissolution: the solution should be clear, with no visible particulate

Solvent selection

Bacteriostatic water is the common choice for solutions intended to be drawn from more than once, because the preservative limits microbial growth across repeated stopper punctures. Sterile water is used where a single-use preparation is planned and no preservative is wanted in the matrix.

The solvent should be recorded in the preparation log alongside the volume added, since concentration cannot be reconstructed later without it.

Storing reconstituted solution

  • Keep reconstituted solution refrigerated and shielded from light
  • Label the vial with the reconstitution date, solvent, and resulting concentration
  • Minimise freeze-thaw cycles; aliquot if repeated access is expected
  • Do not return a drawn volume to the stock vial
  • Discard any solution that turns cloudy or develops visible particulate

Stability notes

Lyophilised peptide is far more stable than peptide in solution. A sealed, cold, light-protected vial retains its characterised purity for a long shelf window; the same peptide in aqueous solution has a much shorter usable life and degrades faster at room temperature and in light.

The practical consequence is to reconstitute close to the point of use rather than preparing solution ahead of a schedule.
